Years back, my son (now 35 yrs old) had a rock band that was fairly well known in the region. It was called Delusion. I was living in North Carolina then and NC does not require a license plate on the front of the car. Jeff gave me a black license plate that had the word Delusion on it in white letters. It might not have been a typical Mother's Day gift, but I loved it then and still have it to this day.

I have 2 children and they are always testing me , fighting with each other , asking to have friends over etc... but then they come home from school with ribbon in hand saying they have a piece of art being exhibited in a local art show, they hand me their report card with all A's and 1 B like it is no big deal. They are selected for the gifted childrens program at school. I turn to my husband with a big smile knowing hey we are doing something right!

We all know we don't have perfect children. Mine likes to test me at every turn these days and he's only six. But then you have the moment of pride that tell you maybe you're doing something right.

I recently had one of those moments at our parent-teacher conference when the teacher mention how considerate our son is with other kids in the classroom. She said he's so well behaved and kind. Wow ... what more can I ask for ... That's more important to me than any academic report.

OK, can I brag a little about my 10-year-old? Last night we were sitting at the table and he really liked the meal I made.... then he said to me, out of the blue, "Thanks, Mom, for putting dinner on the table every night."

What a treat! Sometimes making dinner can be such a chore, but now every time I will remember his comment and brighten a bit more.

Isn't it amazing how our kids can feed our energy sometimes?
