“Mommy” and the other jobs
The presidential election has raised a multitude of questions on what it takes and means to be a mom. Voices from all points on the political spectrum are offering opinions and perspectives on how moms juggle family and work life, what constitutes “sexism” in the public arena, and if “feminism” and “pro-life” are really mutually exclusive.
These are exciting and much-needed conversations that carry on a debate that has transpired for decades on the public stage, and in mother’s hearts. Ruth Marcus of the Washington Post reports on some of the conversations she’s hearing.
Ultimately, all moms have to create the balance between work and family that works best for them. In the midst or this conversation, my hope would be that all moms might cease judging the decisions other moms have made and trust that we’ve all done our best with the information and resources we have. These are exciting times to be a woman!
